Aura wins contract from SL

Stockholm, 20 August 2008

Aura, the lighting company, has been awarded the contract by Stockholm Transport (SL) to supply its Quick Change Long Life light fittings for all of the tunnels on the Stockholm underground rail system. The contract is to run for three years and is worth around SEK 24 million. The lamps will result in a saving of around 25 million working hours.

Aura supplies Long Life light sources that last at least three times as long as standard products on the market. They save both money and the environment, since only a third of all potential light source replacements are still needed. The environmental impact is reduced by two thirds when it comes to production, transportation, and waste, etc.

The fittings to be supplied to SL are an all-in-one solution containing Long Life fluorescent lamps and are designed to allow of rapid and easy replacement. They can withstand dirt, dust and moisture, and are extremely reliable in operation.

Thanks to the savings on installation time and the fact that three light source replacements are not needed, SL can obtain a saving of around 25 million working hours. In addition, there is less of an impact on the environment, as there is a considerable reduction in the number of fluorescent tubes that will need replacing.

- “We have created a solution where both the fitting and the tube can be quickly and easily replaced at one and the same time, resulting in an absolute minimum disruption to operation,” says Fredrik Sventelius, CEO for the Nordic Region at Aura Light AB. On top of this, fewer replacements mean lower maintenance costs and a reduction in environmental impact.

- “The contract, moreover, proves that Aura’s Long Life concept has many benefits.” says Martin Malmros, CEO and Group Director of Aura Light International AB. “For Aura, it is particularly pleasing to obtain a major order from a company with a commitment to the environment such as SL, since the desire to achieve sustainable solutions is one we both share.”

Aura’s Quick Change Long Life fittings will be supplied during 2008. The light fitting is being produced under a joint development project with Fehco, the light fittings company.
